Assist passage of Mansfield, OH, Bill of Rights: The following is the request from area organizer, "Hello Friends, Well, the battle lines are being drawn between the greed of the Oil & Gas industry and the rights of individuals at the local level. Mansfield's 'Bill of Rights' is the attempt to have a voice in decisions involving toxic dumping within our city limits. Even though the Texas well owner, Preferred Fluid LLC, had approved permits in April of 2011, no wells have been built and the permits have expired. Preferred Fluids LLC announced in local headlines in June that no wells would be built and then turned around and sued the city in Northern district court for preventing them from doing business here. That lawsuit was pulled two weeks ago because they have no legal grounds to challenge our right to local control even though current state laws seems to indicate that they do. - - I need your help as never before. Powerful organizations with no vested interest in my community other than to turn it into a toxic waste dump on the promise of three jobs, are spending millions in advertising to try and take away democracy and the voice of the people as intended by our founding fathers. Our city council, mayor and law directors office are united against not allowing toxic wastewater to be injected into our city property through Class 2 injection wells without regard for local concerns and oversight. The 'Bill of Rights', (amendment (a) on the ballot), is one part of four new pieces of legislation to protect our rights and yours wherever you reside. This is obviously having a ripple effect nationally and by taking action to call write or e-mail, you are helping restore democracy to all of us. - - The American Petroleum Institute (API) , Energy In Depth (EID), The Ohio Chamber of Commerce (OCC) and the Regional Manufacturing Coalition (which is a front for Mark Romanchuk, who is running for State Representative against Ellen Haring and his business 'PR Machine Works' located at the same address and use the same phone number) are all falsely claiming various lies in their propaganda campaign to take away citizens rights....and keep the control in the hands of greedy, corrupt, polluting and community killing corporations and entities that do not live or do business in the Mansfield area. - - The image above is 1 of 3 graphics to use in helping us get the word out. Please forward, share and engage folks in the discussion whenever possible. I know many of you are not from this area but you can also help by contacting these organizations and challenging them as to why they are against people's rights and local control. Raise awareness, bring local control into the discussion and help me help us all. Passage of the Bill of Rights, amendment (a), will be a win for Democracy and for the majority of hardworking Americans. - - Thank you so much for all your help this past year. All the support and work done by everyone has helped fuel this effort here in Mansfield. Regardless of the outcome, it has been a pleasure to meet and work with so many of you in the fight for social and environmental justice. - Best Regards, Bill Baker, organizer" Contact these organizations who are against democracy today!
